As you can see from our registration form, you are on your own for all meals except for breakfast and the evening happy hour which are included with your hotel stay.

Greensboro began around 1740 when Quakers moved into the area. The Revolutionary battle was led by American General Nathanael Green at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse on March 15, 1781 which led to Lord Cornwallis’s defeat at Yorktown 7 months later. In 1807 local residents elected officials, purchased a 42-acre tract of land for $98, and named it “Greensborough”, later to be changed to Greensboro, in honor of Major General Greene who won the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.

In 1837, the Quakers of the New Garden Community formed a boarding school that is known today as Guilford College, the first coeducational Institution in the South.

During the Civil War, Greensboro was a railroad center for the Confederacy supplying Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. Greensboro became the seat of the Confederacy on April 11, 1865 as Confederate President Jefferson Davis arrived here after Lee’s surrender at Appomattox. FYI, both Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis were relatives of our late Mate Jeff Davis from GA. Just South of Greensboro is Level Cross, home of Legendary Race Car Drivers, Lee and Richard Petty.

Our theme this Year is “Reunion of Anniversary Years leading to our 100 Years in 2020.” Mate John Sprole is my 2nd Mate in Charge of CREW Reunions. If you have any questions, contact Mate John Sprole at

We’re pulling out all the stops to have many chances to meet old and new Mates of the CREW.
That’s why we are giving a special invitation to those of you whose terms in national office ended in 2011, 2006, 2001, 1995/96, 1990/91, and 1985/86 (& before). You should make a special effort to attend and meet up with those with whom you served most closely.

Did you serve with:

There are many things to see and do in to addition to those mentioned above such as the Richard Childress Racing Museum, SKYWILD at Greensboro Science Center, Childress Vineyards Tour and Wine Tasting, tour Old Salem in Winston-Salem, NC and the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. For more information on Greensboro, visit the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau at

We will have our hospitality bar open most of the week for registered Crew Mates only. The CREW will meet at the same time and place as the USJCI Senate annual meeting, but the CREW meeting is a separate function. More details are on the CREW registration form that will be part of the upcoming Log and is here on our Web site.

Plans are to have forums on the Past, Present and Future of the US Jaycees at the CREW Reunion meeting on Tuesday morning and afternoon June 21, 2016.

The CREW hospitality room will be in the Embassy Suites Greensboro Airport, 204 Centre Point DR, Greensboro, NC 27409.

Room reservations may be made at (236) 668-4535. Ask for the US JCI Senate room block. Hotel room conference rates are $120 + taxes per room and are available 5 days before and five days after the conference. Regular check-in would be June 19 and checkout June 25. Complimentary breakfast and shuttle service to and from the airport are also included.

Room block cutoff is May 1, 2016.
Every room is a two-room suite with a private bedroom and separate living area. More information on amenities can be obtained from the hotel. Mate John Sprole, 2nd Mate in Charge of CREW Reunions.

We are once again requesting sponsorships for our Hospitality Suite, a need of about $1,200 -- for those Mates that would like to remember a Mate or an event in their Jaycee life, who cannot attend the Reunion personally, or who simply want to help sponsor the "hospitality" part of our 79th Annual Reunion.

All donations and sponsorships of $100 or more will be used to defray the cost of the Hospitality Suite and the food and drinks served there. As at the 78th Reunion, a list of the donors and their names will be published in the Reunion Program.

Checks should be mailed to Mate Kim Newlin, 12455 SW 97th CT, Miami, FL 33176 and made out to "The Crew of the SS Fellowship” with a notation of CREW Hospitality on the bottom left hand side.

Donors for the 78th Reunion in Nashville were:

  • Tom Hendrix,

  • Gerry Moore,

  • Moton Crockett,

  • A J Morton,

  • Richard Bartalini,

  • Lawrence L. Kenney,

  • John Sprole,

  • Kim Newlin and

  • Bacardi Rum..

When was the last time you considered and
acted on providing financial support to the Jaycees?
Maybe it is time to visit the Foundations Web Site and make a contribution.

There are several new levels of fellowship contributions and you can even contribute to help support the on-line archive that is under development.

It is quick, easy, online, secure and once you register
you can even view your history of contributions!

This web site was launched at the 68th Crew Reunion held on March 12-14, 2004 in Tulsa, OK.

Now a brief tour:

First no matter where you are, click on the Log of the S.S. Fellowship picture at the top of every page and you will return to this page.

  • CREW Volunteers - We will post names and email addresses to those who are volunteering to manage the CREW (if anyone could really manage this CREW) so you know who to contact about what.
  • Photos/Highlights - We hope to have some fun here. If you have photos (and descriptions), we will be posting them here on the site.  Information on how to provide this information is listed. We will also post highlights of reunions here as well.
  • The Log - We hope to be able to offer the Log of the S.S. Fellowship here and maybe save some postage.  if you are willing to view it on line, a paper copy would not need to be mailed.  We hope to ask MATES to let the KEEPER OF THE LOG informed and may be able to over time have more and more visit here for the Log of the S.S. Fellowship.
  • History - This will highlight the history of the USJCCCREW.  Wayne Field has developed a history of the crew and our intent is to publish it here on the web site.
Crew Info - This is intended for general CREW information that may be provided including CREW reunion information. A copy of the CREW nomination form can also be found in this section of the website.
  • Crew List - The idea here is to upload the current list of MATES as a searchable database.  MATES will be able to enter a first name or last name, city or state and be able to immediately pull up any records we have for those categories.
  • Crew Update - Let's say you have recently moved or notice when you pull your record up on the CREW list that something is not right.  You will be able to access this page and complete basic information to be passed on to the CREW Volunteers to update the database and keep your records current.
  • Yahoo Group - There is currently a mailing list that has been developed through Yahoo Groups and many MATES are currently subscribed and involved.  IF a MATE who is not involved whishes to do so a link to be "invited" will be included and a direct link to the group swill also be available.

This is our first step to share the fellowship originally intended by the establishment of the CREW and the original KEEPER OF THE LOG  MATE John Armbruster. We are just hoping we can take advantage of the technology available and keep everyone a little closer!
